- You know, everything dies.
We were together, sitting in the rooftop. I had climbed on my own, but she knew where to find me. She always did.
- What do you mean? - I looked at her, surprised by the sudden statement.
- Nothing stays forever. Nothing lives eternally- she laid back, looking at the sky- not even those stars. They will all die someday.
I waited. I knew that, when she was in this kind of mood, she did not want questions, but answers.
- Even we will die someday. Probably sooner than them. And people never acknowledge it.- She raised her hand up, pointing at the clouds.- They are never grateful about timing. No one ever says, "Oh, I'm so happy Polaris is still alive when I came around, I really wanted to see her!", never.
I looked at the clear blue sky. The sun was hidden behind a quite large cloud, so it didn't hurt.
- They give it for granted, don't they?
And her final question came, with way more significance behind the words.
- Yeah. It's easier for them that way. - I answered.
And we looked up at the sky.
